In my last post, I was thinking, "Man, that was a rough loss to Lleyton Hewitt for Roger Federer in Halle." And that was just the latest perplexing result from Federer in a year full of them so far. But as it gets closer to Wimbledon time, I just can't help but think we'll be watching Fed do what he does best in two weeks: kissing that big gold trophy. He'll get tested but I think he'll come through.
So, as I do nowadays with my predictions for the tournaments, here's what I expect, from the 16s on:
The Fourth Round
Roger Federer (1) vs. Feliciano Lopez (22) Tomas Berdych (12) vs. Igor Andreev Novak Djokovic (3) vs. Lleyton Hewitt (15) Mardy Fish vs. Andy Roddick (5) Julien Benneteau (32) vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (10) Sergiy Stakhovsky vs. Andy Murray (4) Robin Soderling (6) vs. Marcos Baghdatis (24) Nicolas Mahut vs. Rafael Nadal (2)
Federer vs. Berdych Hewitt vs. Roddick Benneteau vs. Murray Baghdatis vs. Nadal
Federer vs. Roddick Murray vs. Nadal
Federer over Murray
That's how I see it! The women's preview is coming next!
An old friend of mine and I used to talk tennis for hours, whether it was our own games or what was happening in the pros. I've started Tennis Talk, Anyone? to, well, talk tennis with an even broader crowd! My name is Van Sias and I've been playing for 20 years now, and not only am I player, I'm a huge fan of the game as well: pro, amateur, you name it. I'll post links to news items related to the sport, and offer my own personal opinion, predictions and hopefully get some of yours as well.
