I'm giving her until at least around 2024...

... Then hopefully you'll be reading about her on the pro circuit!

Matilda Rose Gannon-Sias was born Friday, Oct. 17, weighing 8 lbs., 5 ounces, and 20 and a half inches long. Mom and baby are doing good.

I'm planning on making her into a serve-and-volleyer. Nobody does that anymore in the women's game. What do you think? : )

UPDATE: Mom gave me the all clear to add a picture!

Awwww, congrats again. You better be heaping loads of care on Matilda's mum. That's one big girl she had to carry and deliver.

Now, where's the pic??????? ;-)

Hey heyheyhey! I have to make sure the mom wants her daughter plastered all over the Internet!

Congratulations, Van!

Serve and volleyer sounds excellent! Do you plan to teach a one or two-handed backhand?

Oh, she's so cute! She really does look like a serve & volleyer! Make sure you teach her how to play on all surfaces. Start collecting bricks now to build your own clay court. ;-)

• Hey Naf, thanks!

• Hey Aaress, thank you! I think the one-hander is going to be the way to go, but I'm going to leave most of her training to the professionals!

• Heyheyhey, I'll set up a little section of crushed brick in a nearby parking space!

Whoo hoo! Congrats Van! I love the name Matilda.

She looks really alert in this photo - developing those fine motor skills already!

Congratulations Van!

I know it is a cliche but becoming a parent really is the best thing you'll ever do. Enjoy it and make sure you grab the sleep (and some tennis) where you can.

• Hey Freakyfrites! Thanks! Yeah, I think I'm gonna start her on the old rolling-the-ball-in-front-of-her technique next week to keep those skills going forward! : )

• Hey Steve, thanks! I'm still working on the sleep thing and once I get that down, I'm sure the tennis will follow!

Oh my goodness, what a lovely lump of sugar is Ms. Matilda Rose (love that name)! God's blessings on her new little life, may she have much health and happiness.

Congratulations to you and your family Van.

Oh, and I totally understand mom. I post very few pictures of myself or my children on the internet. This can be a very friendly place, or a very cruel place.

I'll keep Black Tennis Pro's going just so that I can write about Matilda's first grand slam trophy.
